and so we start on the inside... :-)

02.05.2011 - 21:41

You can't tell much from this, but basically the floor has dried and pipe work started.  They are also starting the inside walls, so we actually start to see the room sizes - almost.

This will be the side entrance leading into the home maintainence room

This will be the hallway/entrance

View from the kitchen - towards the hallway/entrance

The door to the garden

Just finishing off a few things before quiting for the day, got a fair bit completed so thought I would only work till midnight after being in the office all day!  Yeah, ok I just picked up some random tool left by the work men and made it look like I was doing something.

Time for a spring clean

02.05.2011 - 21:24

Hi,

The below comments are typed by me, the husband.  I take no responsibility for any offensive comments or the fact that the missus will change most of what I type anyway ;-)

The "clear-up" or cleaning is our responsibility and you can certainly see that the builders know that already. We had to order a skip for last weekend (May day weekend) to get it started...

The back of the house wasn't much better!

Below is a fairly large skip - by Saturday afternoon it was full.

Amazing what a bit of hard work can achieve and also convincing your in-laws to help :-)

The back garden is also looking better, but there's still a small bit of wood to chop!

Somethings just couldn't been cleaned this time round - it's either concrete or we have some big dogs round this area with a bad diet!

Our first visitor, typical he got to crap here before me!!  If the builders doing it first wasn't bad enough

The sun has arrived in Finland - and so have our roof tiles :)

12.04.2011 - 21:10

The picture above was taken today (12.4.2011). We were a bit unsure about the chosen colour, but now that we see them on, they look good. We chose dark grey, instead of black or red, and they really seem to suit the style of our house. We are still not sure about the outside wall colour, but we have loads different samples (and those that know us also know the shades range from grey to grey...) :)

Oh - by the way, did we mention that we are thinking about painting the house grey :).

The husband was just saying, while looking at this picture, that wouldn't grey suit this house really well... :)

This blue interior colour will change to... grey...

Isn't it great that concrete is grey....

It's amayzing how quickly it seems to come up...

03.04.2011 - 16:02

But we know it is an illusion. It is the inside work that will take the time... We were first hoping to move by Christmas 2011, but hopefully this will be a bit earlier.

At the moment we are deciding on the outside colour (the husband suggested blue and white hoops=QPR). We know the colour, but don't know the shade yet.. whether we are going for light or dark.

The house & car shelter

02.04.2011 - 20:11

Below you will see the floor plan, although we have made some changes to it.

...and now we have windows :)

02.04.2011 - 19:41

This is what our house looked like the last time we visited. And as you will see the builders have been busy...

When we arrived on Saturday morning (2.4.2011) this is what we saw:

Looking quite good :)

We have windows - and blinds on them already. Don't have any inside floor, just gravel, or front door but windows. I wonder who is going to clean those...

This is what the ground looks like, so obviously soon we will have to do some clearing and cleaning. Volunteers welcome! (Rory... when did you say you are coming over?)

This is where our terrace will eventually go. Not the hot tub that the wife wants says the husband.. but we'll see...

This will be entirely the responsibility of the man of the house... It is the technical room... and as we know he knows a lot about that sort of stuff.. (not...) He will have fun reading all the manuals in Finnish :).

There is our fire wood. And I mean the logs on the right, not the leftovers on the left...

This is our back garden.

Some inside pictures (taken 25.3.2011)

More pictures of downstairs.

Upstairs bedroom no. 1.

Upstairs bedroom no. 2.

The front entrance and porch.

This is were our home-maintenance room will be + the sauna and showers.

We have walls.. well.. sort of

22.03.2011 - 18:44

We visited the land today and to our surprise we had already walls.. sort of. The house looks

more and more like what it's supposed to. It is so exciting to go to our land everyday to find new developments. We think the builders may think we are stalking them though... Nauru

Update 20.3.2011

20.03.2011 - 15:37

This is what our home will look like, atlhough the colour scheme is somewhat different. As you can see from the pictures below, though, our home is not quite there yet. We are looking forward to moving in around next Christmas (2011), but are hoping that this is earlier.

The Kastelli crew is working extremely hard, even on Saturdays and Sundays.

Speedy progress

19.03.2011 - 16:00

  15.3.2011

We can't believe how quickly the house is taking shape. This happened between 14.3.2011 - 15.3.2011. Amayzing what can happen in one day. It's all becoming real now - the stress and worries we have had all seem to disappear when we see these few bits of timber erected. The kids are really excited about their new home (which it is, not just a house but our home - chosen and paid for with love. Would love to say built with love but as we are not really building it ourselves...).

15.3.2011

The following pictures were taken on St Patrick's day (17.3.2011 for those that don't know...). It actuallly looks like a house already. Although we are not sure about the air conditioning design.. may need to have a word with the architect :)...
